Lloydminster Residents Concerned for Senior Citizens

Original Air Date: Thursday, October 11, 2012

The Lloydminster community is fired up about parts of the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility being torn down. Residents there are holding a public meeting to gather support.

Two older wings were slated for demolition of the centre – after a new facility opens in the town. Residents want the wings to remain open to address bed shortages and to keep up with the need for continuing care in the region.

Why raise alarm bells now? How dire is long term care in Lloydminster? And what are ramifications for other small towns and cities in Alberta?

Rod Sellers, Co-Chair of the Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Seniors Care
