From the Podium to Retirement

Original Air Date: Friday, September 28, 2012

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame is set to induct nine new members at an October ceremony in Calgary. Among them is Alberta's Jamie Sale who won gold in Pairs Figure Skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

But long before such a public accolade, athletes who are retiring privately face a difficult question: now what?

What do athletes endure after their last competition? How difficult is the change? Can new experiences ever top winning an Olympic medal?

Joining us for this discussion is Jamie Sale, Gold Medalist in Pairs Figure Skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City; Scotty Olson competed in Boxing at the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul; Rod Garossino, an Ice Dancer at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary; and Jennifer Heil, gold medalist in Freestyle Mogul Skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
