Hay East 2012 – Farmers Helping Farmers

Original Air Date: Thursday, September 20, 2012

Severe weather in Eastern Canada has left farmers struggling with a hay shortage - and many Ontario cow-calf producers say there isn't enough feed for their animals.

But ten years after a familiar situation here in Alberta, western farmers are returning the favour - launching the 2012 "Hayeast Campaign".  Producers here are now sending feed to their struggling counterparts in Ontario and Quebec.

How did the initiative come together? What's driving this expression of good will across the country?

We speak with Lynn Jacobson, President of the Wild Rose Agricultural Producers.
