Judge to Determine Abused Childs Fate

Original Air Date: Thursday, September 13, 2012

Doctors say it is time to end life support for a two year-old girl who was found by paramedics in her Edmonton home last May, having been both neglected and abused.

But her Muslim parents, accused of causing her injuries, say their religious beliefs demand treatment continues. The twist: if she remains alive during their trial, they could escape charges of second degree murder.

The girl has brain damage, is paralyzed, and cannot breathe alone.  She is unaware of her surroundings; and there are no brainwaves related to pain, yet her heart rate and blood pressure rise and one eye leaks tears during pain tests.
