Arctic Resources

Original Air Date: Wednesday, August 22, 2012

The Prime Minister continues his annual tour of the Arctic, announcing the creation of Canada's 44th National Park, a sprawling region located in the Northwest Territories.

Key to the visit has been a focus on energy and natural resources with Stephen Harper suggesting the north could lead Canada's economic growth; but some question whether the government is putting enough investment into residents of the region.

How could Alberta benefit from increased resource development in the far north? Is the Prime Minister living up to all his promises for the region?

We speak with Rob Huebert, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at The University Of Calgary. He is also Associate Director at the University of Calgary’s Centre for Military and Strategic Studies.
