Legislature Expense Overhaul

Original Air Date: Thursday, August 09, 2012

Alberta’s opposition leader is calling for the immediate dismissal of Health Minister Fred Horne saying Horne has lost the confidence of Albertans in the wake of the spending scandal involving former AHS Executive Allaudin Merali.

The Province has announced it is launching an initiative to increase transparency of expenditures within its officials and to evaluate its hiring practices. Critics say that isn’t going far enough.

Is Fred Horne the root of the problem? Does there need to be more accountability at AHS? What would the opposition parties have done if they were in power?

We speak with Shayne Saskwi, Wildrose MLA and the Opposition's Justice Critic in our Legislature; and Raj Sherman, leader of the Alberta Liberal Party.
