Busy Weekend for STARS Air Ambulance
Original Air Date:
Tuesday, August 07, 2012
Alberta’s emergency responders were kept exceptionally busy over the holiday weekend with STARS Air Ambulance alone responding to 32 calls, including a woman seriously injured by a buffalo.
Crews from the Edmonton base responded to the bulk of the emergencies, taking to the air no fewer than 19 times. Across the province, numbers could have been even higher with STARS on standby for 40 more flights.
What are the challenges of such a busy weekend for both crews and equipment - and how long before STARS Air Ambulance is stretched to the limit?
We speak with Cam Heke, Spokesperson for STARS Air Ambulance.
