Talk of the Town: Saving Wagner Bog
Original Air Date:
Thursday, August 02, 2012
Wagner Bog is an ecological gem. It's an area of extraordinary biodiversity in Parkland County along Highway 16A, just west of Edmonton. Its future may be in doubt.
The county is considering a draft plan to rezone lands along the county's southern border from agricultural to industrial. Though the plans are preliminary, the members of the Wagner Area Natural Society - a group of scientists, naturalists and local landowners - have been quick to speak out in defense of the unique wetland.
Joining us is Cathy Mowat, an Independent Conservation Planner with a Master's in Environmental Design from the University of Calgary. She is a volunteer with the Wagner Natural Area Society.
