The Beginnings of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth

Original Air Date: Wednesday, July 11, 2012

One hundred years ago, the first Calgary Stampede was meant to be just a one-time thing. American promoter Guy Weadick had a dream to out-do Buffalo Bill's Wild West Extravaganza, and so four Calgary businessmen backed him up with the cash to make it happen. Now, a century later, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede has lived up to its claim as "the greatest outdoor show on earth"; and its founders are revered for their vision.

Joining us is Dean Burns, great grand-nephew of Senator Patrick Burns, one of the Big Four.
