Alberta Doctors New Contract?

Original Air Date: Tuesday, July 03, 2012

A temporary agreement between Alberta doctors and the Province expired over the weekend.  It was meant to be the starting point for a new long-term contract, which doctors haven't had since March 2011.

Some doctors say changes that Health Minister Fred Horne is proposing have compromised the intent of the agreement, and they are worried patient care will suffer as a result.

What will it take to get a deal? What are the next steps? What could all of this mean for health care in Alberta?

We speak with Dr. Linda Slocombe, President of the Alberta Medical Association.
