Tolls on the Roads

Original Air Date: Friday, June 29, 2012

Included in MLA Mike Allen’s committee proposals to improve safety on Highway 63 are toll roads as a way to cover costs. Also, more traffic tickets, selling Alberta bonds, public private partnerships, or using current revenue by bumping other projects and federal funds.

But Ottawa is trimming spending and that's just one reason a University of Calgary report supports tolls.

Is the province considering toll roads in Alberta? How will Albertans pay?

Joining us for this discussion is Ric McIver, Alberta’s Transportation Minister and Deputy House Leader; Peter Wallis, President and CEO of the Van Horne Institute at the University of Calgary; and Don Wilson, Executive Director of the Alberta Motor Transport Association.
